Kaufman County GOP Club President’s Comments – November, 2019

Hello members, grace and peace be unto you all,

As you probably know by now all the bond issues on the November ballot in Kaufman County passed. I, personally, was not in favor of the funding for the new courthouse since I had a number of unanswered questions about it.

Since the Club didn’t have a meeting in October there is nothing to report. There is a primary election next March so the Club will be informing members and the public about the candidates.

The Kaufman County GOP Club and the Kaufman County Republican Party are having a joint Christmas party on Thursday, December 5. It will be a joyful time and a thankful time.

This coming election year looks to be extremely contentious what with the leadership of the Democrat Party having sold their souls to the evil one. We, as conservatives, need to be vigorously involved in making our leanings known far and wide. That means supporting conservative candidates any way we can. That doesn’t mean we should automatically endorse a candidate who says they are conservative, but we are to acquire all the knowledge we can on that candidate in order to be a more informed voter. Tony Evans in his book “How Should Christians Vote ?” says “Every voting choice you make ought to be for the candidate, platform, party, or policy that will best represent the values of the kingdom of God.”

Though things seem so bleak these days, there is still hope. Recall, if you will, the words of Thomas Paine who so eloquently stated, “These are the times that try men’s souls.” But his full statement gives a richness that is lost if you consider his initial quote alone. Paine goes on to tell us who will last and why they will last in this battle when he further states “The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated.”

I believe we, as conservatives, must pray together often seeking Gods wisdom, guidance and courage so that we may stand in the breech against the forces of darkness that seek to destroy this great nation and snuff out its beacon of liberty for all peoples.

During one of the darkest moments of our history, The Civil War, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow penned these words of hope and encouragement on Christmas day, 1865, the words to “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day”

 

“I heard the bells on Christmas Day

 Their old familiar carols play,

 And wild and sweet

The words repeat

Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

And thought how, as the day had come,

The belfries of all Christendom

Had rolled along

The unbroken song

Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

And in despair I bowed my head;

“There is no peace on earth,” I said;

“For hate is strong,

And mocks the song

Of peace on earth, good-will to men!”

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep;

“God is not dead; nor does he sleep!

The Wrong shall fail, The Right prevail,

With peace on earth, good-will to men!”

 

And so, my fellow God fearing patriots and conservatives, let us endeavor through every media available to us to inform and enlighten our fellow countrymen on the issues and candidates so they can vote based on biblical principles so that we may be confident that we have successfully passed the “torch of Liberty” to a new generation of Americans.
